Accommodation at Buffalo Hills means more than just a bed. Of course all our en-suite rooms and safari tents are luxuriously appointed - but it’s the ADDED EXTRAS that make the difference. Because all our over-night guests enjoy the following at no extra cost:

  • A Guided Safari Game Walk every morning;
  • A Guided Safari Game Drive every afternoon; AND

Buffalo Hills offers the luxury you’d expect from a 4-Star Lodge:
  • 4 Luxury En-Suite Bedrooms,
  • 2 Luxury En-Suite Tented Lodges
  • 1 Luxury 2-Bedroom Cottage
  • Guest Lounge and patio with an extensive collection of books about our wildlife;
  • Swimming pool;
  • Traditional African Boma (or meeting place) for evening meals and small, exclusive conferences;
  • Rolling lawns;
  • 4 Luxury en-suite bedrooms;
  • 2 Luxury en-suite tented lodges with, spa baths, showers and private lounges;
  • 1 x 2-bedroom Stone Cottage (a historic building and one of the first homesteads built in the Bitou Valley) with its own private lounge and fireplace.

Just an unobtrusive electric game fence separates the Lodge from the animals which feed in the valley - so you can relax and watch nature in safety. All day, if you like.

Nyati Tented Safari Camp at Buffalo Hills - tented luxury in the treetops. Relax and watch nature in safety from the comfort of your deck - or from the luxury of your bathroom!
Situated in a commanding position overlooking the river, our 9 tents offer
  • Private observation decks - ideal for birding and game watching;
  • Comfortable twin or double beds;
  • Mosquito screens;
  • En suite bathrooms (6 tents with spa baths and showers; 3 with conventional baths, hand-held showers and additional flaps opening onto the forest canopy).
ELEPHANT GORGE LODGE

Tucked away and enormously comfortable, the two, 2-bedroom Log Cabins at Elephant Gorge Lodge are the epicentre of our Elephant Gorge Portered Trail - a full-service portered trail for mountain bikers and walkers.

Let us do the work of carrying your luggage for you as you walk - or ride - from Buffalo Hills to Elephant Gorge and back. And then in the afternoon, sit back and enjoy the swimming pool and spa bath or relax at the Lodge.

At sunset, don your headlamp for an evening guided walk and nocturnal experience of the bush. Then return to the Lodge and enjoy a traditional African Boma Fire and, in true South African style, help at the fire as everyone tucks in to prepare a hearty South African feast.

  • The Elephant Gorge Trail is suitable for walkers and riders who are moderately fit

DINING


South African braais (BBQ’s) with fantastic ingredients like game, freshly-caught fish, vegetable potjie (hot pot) and pot bread... every meal at Buffalo Hills is an occasion - because every meal is prepared just for you.

BREAKFAST
Most guests start their day with a light snack of coffee and rusks (traditional hard cookies) and an invigorating Guided Safari Walk - they find they need the walk to work up an appetite that’ll do justice to our massive, traditional South African breakfast. Served in our colonial-style dining room at Buffalo Lodge, breakfast includes yoghurt, fruit, cereals, eggs, bacon, confectionaries and toast and coffee or tea.

LUNCH
Lunch is served by arrangement.

SUPPER
Enjoy drinks and snacks served at our Boma Fire - the traditional African outdoor cooking area - before dinner is served in our South African Style Dining Room. Menus are designed around the traditional South African braai (barbecue) where game is, of course, the house speciality.
