Enjoy the Elephant Gorge Portered Trail on Foot or by Mountain Bike!

Our unique 1-, 2- or 3-night Elephant Gorge Packages include accommodation at Elephant Gorge Bush Lodge and Buffalo Hills Lodge, all meals, FGASA-registered guides, porterage for your luggage, Safari Game Drives and Nyati jjj Distillery tours and Mampoer tastings.

Here’s the programme:
  • Hitch a ride for your bike on our open game-viewing vehicles through Buffalo Hills Game Reserve;
  • Leave the fenced game area and enter the Diepwalle State Forest (an indigenous hardwood forest soon to be incorporated into the Garden Route National Park);
  • Hike or ride to Elephant Gorge

RIDE according to your category:
  • Family Route - 4 hours;
  • Enthusiasts’ Route - 5 hours;
  • Epic Riders’ Route - 7 to 8 hours;

HIKE: 4 to 6 hours

In the afternoon, sit back and enjoy the swimming pool and spa bath or relax at the Lodge.
At sunset, don your headlamp for an evening guided walk and nocturnal experience of the bush. Then return to the Lodge and enjoy a traditional African Boma Fire and, in true South African style, help at the fire as everyone tucks in to prepare a hearty South African feast.
