How To Find Us
Buffalo Hills Game Reserve & Lodges lies in the heart of the Western Cape Province's Garden Route - one of South Africa's most popular tourist playgrounds. Buffalo Hills is just 15 km from Plettenberg Bay, 35 km from Knysna and 5 km from the village of Wittedrift, in the Bitou River Valley.

- Cape Town International Airport
The major gateway to the Western Cape - is about 500 km to the west of Buffalo Hills. Regular, scheduled flights link Cape Town International with both the Plettenberg Bay and George Airports (for those who prefer a more leisurely approach, the drive from Cape Town to the Garden Route is scenically spectacular and offers a host of interesting attractions along the way. Approximate non-stop driving time is 5 hours along the well-maintained highway of the national road N2).

Road Transport
Scheduled local public transport is limited to inter-city bus services that run along the national highway N2 between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth;

Climate
The Garden Route is a narrow coastal strip bordered by high mountain ranges to the north and the warm Indian Ocean to the south. This spectacularly beautiful region is the only part of the entire African continent that experiences all-year rainfall - but the bonus is that our climate remains mild and pleasant throughout both summer and winter.
SUMMER on the Garden Route is characterised by hot days and warm evenings, whilst WINTER offers warm days and cool - or even chilly - evenings (perfect for enjoying a blazing log fire and a warming liqueur produced right here at Buffalo Hills by our Nyati jjj Mampoer & Liqueur Distillery). Frost is vary rare, and snow, which may dust the peaks of the mountains about once every three years, never reaches the coastal areas.
Importantly, more than 70% of our rain falls at night, and the Garden Route experiences very few strong coastal winds.

Buffalo Hills Game Reserve & Lodges - indeed, the entire Western Cape Province - is entirely malaria free. So you'll not only be comfortable when you visit us - you'll be safe, too.
